Call Recording Wherever You Are

Business use of the mobile phone has increased steadily over the last decade. Until now, mobile phone users have been denied access to most of the functionality available at a corporate PBX telephone extension. On the occasions when access to corporate phone system features and telephony applications has been available, they have, typically, been accessed by a set of key selections that must be remembered by the user.

Call Recording provides peace of mind. It can be used to enhance understanding of the customer experience, resolve disputes or to identify staff training needs.

How Mobile Call Recording Works

When you subscribe to the Mobile Call Recording application, we send you a text message to your designated mobile number. By following the instructions within the message, the application is downloaded and installed onto the mobile and is available to use whenever you make a call.

A simple-to-use menu-based interface provides easy access without the need for any training. When call recording is activated through the menu system all outgoing telephone conversation will be recorded. We will also provide you with a new geographical number - Incoming calls to the telephone number provided will also be recorded. Incoming calls to your existing number will not be recorded.

Outgoing calls are blanket recorded so all calls are recorded automatically.

Both incoming calls to your new number and recordings will be sent to your designated email address as a WAV file.

Additional Features

When you take out a subscription for our Mobile Call Recording service we give you a whole load of other features too. Features that would, typically, only be found on a business-class telephone extension but are now available to you via a simple menu system integrated into your mobile.

How can I tell if my mobile handset is compatible?

The Call Recording application works on mobile phones using the Windows Mobile 5 or 6 operating system or the Symbian S60 platform. The range of compatible phones increases daily. What is required to install the mobile call recording application?

You will receive an SMS with a link which you need to open. You will see a message confirming you are happy to connect to the server and you need to click 'continue'. You will now be connected to the server where you need to select the appropriate handset. Select the drop down box and choose from the options shown. When the application has finished downloading, press the 'Enter' key and then exit to the home screen on your handset. Once you are back at the main screen, press the 'Option' button on your phone and then choose “Downloads”.

Select the 'm-Call' application. When m-Call launches for the first time it will automatically download the settings for your handset. The settings should take less than a minute to download and then you will receive a message to confirm they have been installed.

How do I activate the call recording?

Call recording can be automatically activated for every call or manually selected per call. It is selectable from a menu option on your phone.

Do I have to do anything to activate call recording?

Once you have turned it on from within the options menu, call recording can be used to automatically record all calls, both incoming and outgoing. If you wish to use call recording manually, you should select the call recording option or * key during the call you wish to record. The entire call, including prior to your selecting call recording on demand, will then be recorded.

How do I access my recordings?

The recording will be sent as a .wav file attachment in an email sent to your designated email inbox.

Whose number is displayed on the wav file for mobile call recording?

The call recording will show the originating number.

How do I access the PBX functionality – hold, transfer and conferencing?

When you have received or made a call, the application will pop so that you can select the in-call features. These features can be accessed by pressing the 'option' key on the handset.

How will I be charged?

Startup charges and the first months service charge will be charged immediately to your credit card. Call charges and ongoing monthly subscriptions will be invoiced monthly in advance.

What happens if I change or cancel my credit card?

Your contract has a minimum duration of 12 months. However, only the first monthly payment is taken from your credit card. Additional monthly payments are invoiced to you directly and you may pay by credit card or using alternative methods. Outside of the contract period, you are free to discontinue the service at any time.

How does the transfer option work?

This option allows you to transfer the person you are speaking with to another number. Select the 'Transfer' option and either enter the number manually or press the option key and search for the number in your 'contacts'. Once the third person has answered, you can inform them that you will be connecting them with the caller and then hang up. Once you hang up the other two Parties will be connected.

Will this application allow me to record calls to my existing mobile phone number?

No – We do not have access to the connection from a caller to your existing mobile phone number so we are unable to record this directly. To enable call recording on incoming calls they must be made to the DDI provided which is routed through our hosted call recording application on our platform. This new DDI will be routed to your existing mobile phone so you will receive the call as usual.

What is 'Transfer To'?

This feature allows you to transfer the call from your mobile handset to another location so you can carry on the conversation. This is typically used when arriving back at your desk (if you have a desk phone) or at home so that you can use a landline phone.

What support services are available?

All our services are supported by a Help Desk contactable on 0844 8800230 (08:00 - 19:00 Monday - Friday).

What call charges apply?

Call charges apply to all calls made from all telephone numbers provided by Hosted Direct. A minimum charge per call of 1.0 pence per call applies.

Is there a minimum call charge?

Yes - There is a minimum charge of 1.0 pence per call. Call charges are quoted in pence per minute and priced per second unless otherwise stated.

What happens after the 30 day free trial?

The service will continue to function as normal. Charges for the service will be invoiced to you monthly in advance. Standard contract terms apply after the trial period and there will be a minimum 12 month contract period.

Can I change the application to another phone by forwarding the original SMS?

No - each SMS is coded for a single install, if you change phones please contact us and we will update your account and send you a new SMS to your new phone number.

Are there any charges during the 30 day free trial?

Call charges apply during the 30 day free trial period but no charges will be made for the service. See our competitive tariff rates on the call charges tab.

How do I cancel my trial subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time during the trial. Send an email to info@hosteddirect.com with your unique id or your name, adress and telephone number and we will confirm the trial termination by email.

Is there a minimum term?

Yes - There is a minimum term of 12 months.

How many minutes of call recording do I get with the product?

500 minutes are included. If usage exceeds this limit we will charge you at our standard rate on the call charges tab for any call recording over the 500 minutes.

Will all my calls be recorded?

All outbound calls will be recorded when you have selected the call recording option on the menu. Inbound calls to the DDI we provide will be recorded. Inbound calls to your mobile phone telephone number will not be able to be recorded.

What happens after a call is recorded?

The recorded call will be sent to your designated email address as a WAV file attachment which you can listen to on your PC.

Can I record calls to my existing mobile phone number?

No, calls to your existing number do not go through our centre so cannot be recorded. Only calls made from your mobile outbound calls and calls made to your new DDI number may be recorded.

What call charges are incurred?

When a call is recorded it is sent through the Hosted Communications Platform, therefore call charges on your mobile bill for the call to the platform and call charges on your Hosted Communications bill for calls to the called number will apply.

Will there be any charges on my existing mobile phone bill?

Yes - the transfer call from your mobile to the call recording platform will appear on your mobile phone bill as a call to a local landline number.

Use of the Call Recording service is charged as a monthly fee of £14.99.

Recorded inbound calls are charged at £.03 (3 pence per minute).

Recorded outbound calls are made by activating the call recording option on the menu system provided to the mobile phone. Outbound charges are incurred for calls made out from the number provided to other numbers for instance daytime calls passed to a UK sales office will incur a 0.9 pence per minute outbound call charge. These calls are chargeable at the same hosted direct call rates. There is a minimum charge of 1.0 pence per call.
