Includes a free telephone number, with a choice of area code, and a free soft phone application to run on your Windows PC. Outgoing calls are charged at a highly competitive tariff. Telephone handsets and additional add-on services can be ordered separately.

Please Note - there is no monthly subscription for this service. You are only charged for calls you make using your Business Phone Service. A deposit of £20.00 against your first month’s bill for call charges is payable with your order.

What is it?

This service offers a ‘not to be missed’ opportunity to deploy telephone connections without any outlay. Ideal if you have limited in-house telecom skills or offices with no traditional telecoms infrastructure as there is no on-site phone switch to worry about. The service is ‘FREE’ - we deliver a service over your existing network connection enabling your broadband phone line with PBX-like functionality. No line rental charges. All you pay for is the calls you make – and with our competitive call tariff, you can make significant savings there too.

We can also offer our solutions over approved network connections using approved hardware and backed up with quality of service guarantees. However, by using your existing network connection and an existing router you can start using our Hosted IP Telephony solution straightaway and judge for yourself whether your broadband connection provides sufficient voice quality – for many of our customers it does. You can try the services while only incurring call charges and without any ongoing commitment.

You can’t say fairer than that!

Of course, we hope you will like what you see and will want to upgrade your service with additional hosted applications and services. But, the choice is yours.

How will I be charged?

A call charges float is charged up-front to cover your initial calls and to protect our FREE Business Line service against abuse. This deposit of £20 will be charged immediately to your credit card. Ongoing call charges will be invoiced monthly.

What happens if I change or cancel my credit card?

Your contract has a minimum duration of 12 months. However, only the first monthly payment is taken from your credit card. Additional monthly payments are invoiced to you directly and you may pay by credit card or using alternative methods. Outside of the contract period, you are free to discontinue the service at any time.

How many phones can I place behind the hosted VoIP connection?

The supplied phone line will support a single phone - either a desk phone or a soft phone.

How do I know this will work with my existing broadband service?

The service will work with all broadband services. If you are in an area with high congestion on the network and you have a low bandwidth line, then the voice quality may be affected. However, in our experience, this service works to deliver business quality voice over the majority of UK lines.

What voice quality guarantees do you provide?

When the service is provided over your existing router and broadband connection we will do everything possible to ensure the voice quality is of business quality. However, some circumstances may be outside of our control, for instance, congestion on the internet. Therefore, we cannot provide a quality of service guarantee. We are able to provide you with a business broadband connection and on-site hardware to enable a quality of service guarantee. Contact us for a quotation.

Is TeleWare broadband required for a guaranteed service?

If we are to guarantee a level of service, we have to provide the connectivity which has been ratified by TeleWare, and we ensure that it has the ability to differentiate between voice and data and provide the relevant capacity and quality of service to manage the required amount of calls.

We also offer a white list which allows you to self certify that your system will perform but it does not guarantee any level of service.

It's free, what’s the catch?

There is no ‘catch’. We provide the connection and set-up free of charge and we make our money on our highly competitive call charges. Of course, if you like the service, we hope you will consider other hosted services from us, such as the Auto Attendant.

Is there a standard tariff?

What support services are available?

All our services are supported by a Help Desk contactable on 0844 8800230 (08:00 - 19:00 Monday - Friday).

What call charges apply?

Call charges apply to all calls made from all telephone numbers provided by Hosted Direct. A minimum charge per call of 1.0 pence applies.

Is there a minimum call charge?

Yes - There is a minimum charge of 1.0 pence per call. Call charges are quoted in pence per minute and priced per second, unless otherwise stated.

What do I have to have on my site to install the service?

A standard broadband connection with a router with an Ethernet (RJ-45) connection is required at your site.

Is there a Warranty on phone handsets?

Yes the manufacturers standard hardware warranty applies.

Are Voicemail and Fax mail messages stored?

We do not store your messages for you, they are automatically forwarded to you as an email immediately a message is received.

Can I create multiple accounts with short code dialling between accounts?

Yes, when applying for a new extension simply tick the box on the order form to say that you have already got an existing Hosted Direct extension and we will provide short code dialling between these extensions and present you with a single bill using the original account billing details.

Support for International and premium rate calls

As standard, the FREE Phone Line solution is disabled for international and premium rate calls to protect from aggressive misuse of the system. This functionality can be enabled on request, subject to your company being cleared through our standard credit checks.

How many phone lines can I have in an account?

There is no limit. We can keep adding lines to your account. However, if multiple lines are at a single site we would suggest you contact us for advice regarding whether the broadband bandwidth available at the site is suitable to support multiple concurrent calls. Tel: 01845 521119

Is the business phone service transferable?

The phone numbers will be associated with the IP address of your IP device of choice i.e. IP Phone or laptop. That number is then permanently associated with that IP address until the service is cancelled. You can take the laptop to another location as long as it has the same IP address.

If you are looking for a solution that allows you to move your phone number between multiple locations on demand, for example to a 2nd telephone, a home phone or a laptop the Hosted Direct service can be supplemented by an intelligent number which allows you to transfer the number between handsets/devices. Use of the Hosted Direct business line service is Free of Charge and does not incur any monthly fees.

There are no inbound call charges and callers pay standard call rates from their provider.

Calls between multiple extensions are Free of charge.

Outbound charges are incurred for calls made out from the Business Line to other numbers and are chargeable at our standard hosted direct call rates. A local UK daytime call is 0.9ppm. There is a minimum charge of 1.0 pence per call.
